Saliva drug testing is one of the newest methods on the market but it's rapidly growing in popularity and for good reason. Gone are the days when you need to worry about dealing with a donor's urine in order to conduct pre-employment drug testing. Technology now allows for use of a cheek drug test to detect drugs in saliva even sooner than in urine - within hours of drug use.

Can a saliva drug test detect alcohol

When alcohol is ingested, it enters the bloodstream almost instantaneously. It then moves through the body where it has interactions with different organs and emits traces of its presence in the form of metabolites. These metabolites of alcohol use are detectable in an person's saliva for about 12 to 24 hours after alcohol has been consumed. After a 24 hour period, alcohol is (usually) substantially metabolized and is rarely detectable in saliva. This is why saliva testing for alcohol is quite accurate for immediate detection.

How long does alcohol stay in your system for a mouth swab drug test?

Alcohol can typically be detected in saliva approximately 12-24 hours after consumption.
