Christina Aguilera and her 25-year-old boyfriend Matthew Rutler were busted at Los Angeles -- Aguilera for public intoxication and Rutler for driving under the influence
What is "public intoxication" exactly? It's really rather simple. It only means that she was “extremely intoxicated
” and "unable to take care of herself." Whoa.
Aguilera was fingerprinted and placed in jail for some time and was later released after she was sober enough. The 30-year-old singer will not be prosecuted for a misdemeanor, though, said L.A. County Sheriff spokesperson Steve Whitmore. Rutler was held on a $30,000 bail but was released later on a $5,000 bail.
It can be noted that Aguilera’s behavior has become erratic in recent weeks; missing the lyrics to the National Anthem last February and stumbling at the Grammy’s two weeks ago. She filed for divorce from husband Jordan Bratman October of 2010.
Most of her critics say that the singer’s troubles started last summer when her first album in four years, “Bionic,” performed poorly in the charts. Her concert tour with the same title as her latest album was also rescheduled. Producers said it was moved to give the singer more time to promote her film “Burlesque” with Cher, but insiders say it was because of slow ticket sales. Her movie also flopped in the box-office taking in less than $40 million in gross domestic receipts.
