Former ‘Taxi’ and ‘Grease’ star Jeff Conoway is now in a coma after a drug overdose on painkiller pills. The 60-year-old actor is in an Encino, California hospital in critical condition, according to an Associated Press report. His manager, Phil Brock, confirmed that the actor was found unconscious on the 11th of May.
In 2008, Conoway was part of Celebrity Rehab Season 2 where he openly admitted his drugs and alcohol addictions. At that time, the actor attributes his addictions to sexual abuse and a back injury that brought about his chronic pain.
Dr. Drew Pinsky, who counseled the veteran actor during his stint in the show, released a statement on Conoway’s condition. “I am deeply saddened to learn of Jeff’s condition. My thoughts and prayers are with Jeff and his family.”
His manager describes Jeff as a “gentle soul,” while his co-star at “Celebrity Rehab,” model and actress Tawny Kitaen, tells that the Jeff she knew was a “very lovable guy."
Jeff Conoway’s fame can be credited to his roles in musicals such as in the 1978 movie “Grease.” He also starred in the TV series “Babylon 5.”
The family of Jeff asks for prayers for the actor to come out of his coma and be given the chance to make up for everything that he has done.
